When a data storage device (server, PC, laptop, USB, mobile devices, virtual machine, LUN, etc.) is ready to be reused, resold or discarded, any data it contains must be erased to remove the risk of unwanted access.

Data Migration
When data is moved from one location to another, from an old server to a new one, from one virtual machine to another – the original data location must be erased.

Data End-of-Life
When data is no longer needed for its intended purpose, on any storage device, you need to enforce policies for the erasure of virtual machines, files and folders with automated routines within your existing systems.

Customer Demand
GDPR and other global regulations allow citizens to request the removal of their data from your systems. A certified report to prove the data is erased is required to prove compliance.

After Disaster Recovery
Following the successful restoration of production systems, any data left on recovery disks/drives should be erased to eliminate duplicate data and unnecessary risk.

Employee Onboarding & Departures
When an employee departs the organization, through resignation or termination, all storage mediums that contain organizational data needs to be securely erased.

Cloud Exit
Upon selecting a cloud storage provider or managed service provider, all contracts should include a provision for your organization to have proof of the data being erased upon termination of the service.
